abstract acrylic art

There are so many statements to make about art. Especially, if you are me and have a BA in Speech Communication NOT Studio Arts. I could start by saying it is abstract art that really makes me happy. Abstract paintings or non-objective art, representational art paintings, sculpture, and other fine art that contain line and shape that break from traditional concepts are like eye candy to me. They offer the opportunity to engage and interact with the art without being told what to do or how to think. I feel much of Modern Art includes this same invitation. I like the space this style of art offers.

My desire is to always bring a painting into the present moment and to create paintings that have something organic about them. I like a painting to feel alive and have the opportunity to transform and give the best experience to every viewer. To mature without rules confining what it is or should be. To keep opening doors that will lead to an actual experience of a painting more then an analysis of it.

Though I admit I do enjoy the conversation that art causes. A wonderful read is James Lord’s “Giacometti’s Portrait”. It is so well written I actually felt like I was sitting in the room while the portrait was being painted. The conversation was so alive and organic and showed much regarding Giacometti’s creation process as well as Lord’s ability to convey what happened in a way that grabs you and sits you down in the chair with him.

I believe in bringing back original art into homes and work spaces. I wish everyone the opportunity to be with an artwork they find inspiring and precious. Something beautiful you could look at everyday.
